2020 Fiesta 5K turns virtual!

May 2 Fiesta 5K is transitioning to a virtual event due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Given the outbreak of COVID-19, the 2020 Fiesta 5K for ALS Research is transitioning into a virtual event. Moving the Fiesta 5K, which was to be held in downtown Baltimore on Saturday, May 2, to a virtual event is the smartest and best option to ensure the health and safety of the race participants, sponsors, vendors and volunteers.

In the thirteen years since the event’s inception, $3.5 million has been raised for ALS research. Our teams, families, and runners look forward to this annual event, and work hard each year to raise funds critical to ALS research.

The Fiesta 5K was created to bring awareness to a rare and devastating disease, and provide funds for our shared mission of solving ALS.  Since it will not be possible to reschedule the event at any time in the near future, we encourage you, your teammates, friends and family to keep the spirit of the Fiesta 5K alive this year!  Start a team, join a team or just sign up to be a virtual runner!   We CAN still keep the spirit of the event alive and urge you to host virtual Fiesta 5Ks wherever you are located. Our team is working to build a fun-filled virtual event so we can all show our support for the ALS community. So please, put on your team shirt…run or walk in your neighborhood…make a sign…have a family fiesta!  Then tweet us a photo using the hashtag #fiesta5k, post on our Facebook page, or email the photo to fiesta5k@jhmi.edu for inclusion in an upcoming newsletter.
